London Marathon 2018: 42km… and €7000 later
Congratulations (and a grand merci!) to our triathlete runner Kathryn Harrison, who took on the London Marathon on 22 April 2018, raising over €7000 for the BCF.
Kathryn moved to Paris from the UK in 2011 for work. She decided to take up the triathlon as a challenge to overcome her fear of swimming, but also as a way to meet people and integrate into the Paris sports community. She went on to become Vice President of the Expatriés International Triathlon Club of Paris. Having mastered her own fears, Kathryn enjoys motivating and inspiring members to achieve their goals, as well as promoting female participation in sport and developing projects and sporting events that benefit the wider community.
“This is both exciting and daunting in equal measure!” Kathryn told us before the race, “but with the support and training available within my triathlon club, I hope to be well prepared. Being able to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for expatriates accords well with the objectives of the BCF. Their mission to provide assistance to British subjects throughout France in desperate need of support, be it financial or otherwise, is extremely important to so many people. I am therefore extremely pleased to be able to support the BCF and proud to have the chance to run the London Marathon for them to help such a worthwhile cause.”
The London Marathon 2018 was Kathryn’s first ever. Recovering from sickness and training through months of wind, rain, and a fair bit of snow, to soaring temperatures on the day, she crossed the finishing line in an incredible 3’54”. (Sun)hats off to an amazing achievement!
There’s still time to sponsor Kathryn.
